Big Juice Read

Monday 17th of October (Lower KS2 Years 3 and 4) and Tuesday 18th of October ( Upper KS2 Years 5&6) 9.30am- 2.30pm

The Big Juice Read is a fantastic opportunity for children and young people to enjoy reading and literature through creative activity. Working with professional artists and a writer we explore literature through writing workshops, drama, arts and crafts. It is a unique, exciting and different way for young people to be inspired by literature, reading and in particular inspiring writing. Feedback from previous years has praised the range of activities on offer which engage pupil of all levels of ability engaging the most disengaged readers and writers.

‘It has encouraged our children to actually read and write when often they don’t see parents read at home’ Teacher from Hilton Academy

Children will take part in lots of different activities throughout the day which makes it a perfect opportunity to gain an arts award. Arts Award is a range of unique qualifications that supports anyone aged up to 25 to grow as artists and arts leaders, inspiring them to connect with and take part in the wider arts world through taking challenges in an art form – from fashion to digital art, pottery to poetry.

This year we will be taking inspiration from Roald Dahl’s stories and poetry. This event will explore the work of a celebrated classic author in a brand new way bringing the curriculum to life. They will leave inspired by the world of Dahl as well as their own piece of writing, Dream Jar and then receive an Arts Award Certificate. Teachers will also be given a pack full of ideas and inspiration to take back to your school and classroom.

The cost per child is inclusive of all materials for the day which includes four different workshops and completion and moderation of a Discover Arts Award and gaining a certificate.

£6 per child which includes Discover Arts Award. To achieve Discover, children and young people discover the arts around them, find out about artists and their work and share their experiences with others, gaining a certificate at the end. This award provides a great introduction to the arts and to other Arts Award levels.

‘Throughout each activity the children’s knowledge, skills and self confidence in their abilities and understanding has increased massively’ Melanie, Teaching Assistant, Arts Award Project 2016
