I have been self-employed as an artist and illustrator since graduating from Sunderland University with a BA(hons) in Illustration and Design (as a mature student) in the summer of 2004.
My main passion and subject is wildlife, and I have been lucky enough to gain major commissions for the RSPB, Gateshead Council and Tesco for the local Red Kite re-introduction project, involving interpretation panels, life-size models and an 18 metre mural along the front of a village store.
I have also collaborated with other artists, bringing their ideas to fruition on computer for large-scale mural works.
I work mainly in 2D, my favourite medium is watercolour but I enjoy drawing and experimenting with mixed media, though most of my major work has involved a combination of painting, photography and digital composition.
My latest work has involved caricature birds in watercolour which I have exhibited in Newcastle City Centre and Washington Wildfowl & Wetlands Centre; and now have them displayed in a City Centre Gallery.
Summary of Workshops
I am inexperienced in this field and presently have no set workshops, but am versatile and open to ideas which I can work around to plan a workshop which will suit your requirements.
I have a good knowledge of British Wildlife (especially birds and dragonflies) which I can combine with an art class on the subject.
