Reflections of Newcastle 1914-18 is a Heritage Lottery funded World War One project and collaboration between the Lit & Phil, Northumbria University, Newcastle College and the November Club. The project looks at the intellectual, social and cultural life of Newcastle during World War One through the creation of three iBooks and three city walks.

Participants are invited to download the iBooks onto their own iPad for free or borrow an iPad from the Lit & Phil and follow three different characters as they walk around central Newcastle to find out interesting facts about the city during the war. Follow either Johnny Atkinson, a returning injured soldier; Addy Dixon, a young woman, munitionette and suffragette; or Harry and Emmy Fisher, two twins whose father has gone off to fight.

The iBook of Harry and Emmy Fisher has specifically been designed for schools, KS2 and KS3, and a teaching pack can be downloaded from the website. The Lit & Phil has 10 iPads that can be borrowed by visitors, families, schools and community groups. Please get in touch to find out how to book.
