Groundwork East is a community and environment charity working across the East of England to change places and lives. We are proud to have been championing practical community action that benefits people and the natural world since 1985, running programmes to help communities and transform unloved green spaces, get people outside enjoying the natural world and supporting individuals and businesses to reduce their environmental impact.
Our Stay Warm, Stay Well programme provides free help for households who are struggling with their energy bills. Through the service, Groundwork Green Doctors, who are energy efficiency advisors, visit homes and provide practical guidance on energy and money saving.
Service Offer
We can provide different kinds of free support, whether that’s advice on paying off debt with energy or water companies, or spotting other concerns for a referral to other services. Some of the reasons people ask us for help are:
- struggling to pay energy bills or finding it hard to manage fuel debt
- worrying about keeping warm or choosing between eating and heating
- feeling that the home is cold, damp or draughty
- respiratory problems such as asthma or a persistent cough
During a home visit, we’ll give your property a check-up and offer you energy saving advice and practical support to see if you can save energy or access financial incentives. Our Get Energy Help online resource hub provides tips and practical advice for reducing your energy usage and keeping your home free of mould, damp and condensation.
Please note, there is currently one Green Doctor working Monday – Thursday
