The Young Carers & Families Service is a partnership of voluntary sector organisations specialising in supporting carers and young people. Together we are able to provide support to young carers and their families across Norfolk.
We have a team of Triage & Assessment Workers and Family Care Practitioners who work with families to ensure the right support is put in place to remove or reduce the caring the young carer provides, this is normally done by working with the family to provide additional support to the person with care and support needs or to any adult carer in the family.
In addition we work with our partners to provide 1:1 and/or group support directly to the young carer for 3 – 6 months, with the aim to increase confidence, reduce loneliness by meeting other young carers, learn skills, improve their wellbeing and have some fun; the project works with the young carer to help them to access local community activities and support at the end of their time with the service.
The service is commissioned and funded by Norfolk County Council and managed by Voluntary Norfolk.
