Equal Lives Advice and Membership

We are Equal Lives, a disability rights organisation based in Norfolk and Suffolk. We exist to support people of any age who face disabling barriers and we are dedicated to making their voices heard. We are a user-led organisation, meaning we are led by people who access care and support services themselves.

We can support with information, advice and community & child protection advocacy.

Advice and Membership Team

Our Advice and Membership Officers provide a telephone and email enquiry service. They can provide advice around:

    • Information and advice on finding support
    • Discrimination and rights
    • Who can help in a crisis
    • Independent living
    • Social care
    • Accessibility
    • Complaints about companies/services
    • Money and debt issues – referred to our Financial Hardship Adviser
    • Welfare benefits – limited capacity for support with Personal Independence Payment (PIP) form fills for residents of Norwich (NR1 – NR7) postcodes.

Please be aware that as of 1st April 2022 our services changed, and we are no longer funded to provide support with some welfare benefit issues such as:

  • Welfare benefit appeals
  • Attendance at assessments
  • Universal Credit (including Housing Element)
  • Child DLA

You can call and speak to one of our team between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday. We are closed on Bank Holidays.

If we are unable to help with your query, we will try to signpost you somewhere that can.
